Advanced Technical Diving Certifications

There are many options for advanced technical diving certifications. TDI offers Intro to Tech, Advanced Nitrox, and Decompression Procedures courses. PADI offers Tec Trimix as well as Deep Diver courses. Advanced Nitrox training is offered by TDI to recreational Nitrox divers. This course covers equipment operation, gas switching, and advanced emergency procedures such as liftbag deployment. You can find more information on the TDI site.

TDI Intro Tech course

The TDI Intro to Tech standalone training course will allow you to increase your recreational training while also gaining a deeper understanding and skill set in advanced technical areas. This course can be used as a foundation for TDI's advanced courses such as Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures. It can also be used as a refresher course for those who have taken technical courses. During the course, TDI technical instructor can assess your abilities.

For divers who have never dived with twin cylinders or a wing, the TDI Intro to Tech course will be helpful. The course also covers advanced buoyancy control, gas management, and more. Students will also gain situational awareness as well as trim skills. The course can be taught at the beach or in cenotes with similar conditions as swimming pools. Advanced gas planning skills will also be learned. This course will help you improve your open-water diving skills and teach you how to use technical equipment. You will also learn how to use advanced gas planning techniques. The course is strictly non-decompression. However, you are allowed to use enriched nitrox during the course.

Course on TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures

TDI Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures courses prepare divers for accelerated and staged decompression. The course covers advanced gas planning, management and safety techniques. Students also learn how they manage their equipment and plan to handle any unexpected events. Four dives at a maximum depth limit of 40 meters (130 feet) are included in the TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Techniques course.


This course can either be taken in its entirety or as part of an Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures certification. Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses can be taken as a performance-based course and last for 4 days. Six dives above 30 meters are required. The course is customized to each student's experience and their individual requirements. This course prepares students in advanced technical diving.

PADI Tec Trimix course

PADI Tec Trimix90 is the final stage in the PADI Technical Diver circuit. This certification course opens doors to deeper dives and allows divers to discover new places. This course is intended for experienced tec divers looking to increase their skills and explore deeper areas. Trimix certification requires a valid driver's license and a medical exam. For this certification, you need two 30cf stage bottles and a face mask.

PADI Tec Trimix 65 Divers must have logged at the very least 350 dives. The course also covers technical diving techniques. It also offers multiple teaching scenarios. It is the highest level of technical diving certification. However, it is worth noting that the requirements are more demanding than the standard PADI Tec Diver course.

PADI Tec Deep Diver course

PADI Tec deep diver certification is for recreational divers. This certification includes four dives. It also covers safety stops and descents. You will also learn to use technical diving equipment like a side-mounted cylinder, EANx and EANx. Learn how to plan deep diving and manage your gas supplies. You can take lessons online or offline with the PADI Tec eLearning Program.

This program can be completed in just two years unlike the PADI courses. First, you must be certified by Tec 50 from an approved organization. The qualification must cover technical deep diving as well as decompression dives up to 50 meters and pure oxygen diving. Additionally, the PADI Course Director conducting the Tec Deep Instructor course may also offer Tec 50 diver level training. Upon completion, the PADI Instructor Course Director will issue a Tec Deep Diver Certification.
