Scuba Diving Magazine's Readers’ Favorite Awards have been announced. Readers have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dive destination through these awards. Aggressor Adventures, an Bahamas dive center, won 79 awards this year. This is a 34-award advantage over the runner up. Readers can also vote online about their favorite dive sites or locations.
Bonaire ranked second under Advanced Diving.
Scuba Diving Magazine readers named Bonaire as a top Caribbean/Atlantic diving destination for fifth consecutive year. Bonaire won Best Shore Diving Destination and was also honored in the categories Best Underwater Photography (Best Visibility), and Best Advanced Diving. The magazine's November 20,21 issue will feature the awards as voted by readers.
Bonaire's bike and hiking trails are available to visitors. There is even a national park where flamingos can be seen. The island also has its water filtering system. This makes the water safe for drinking. 2016 saw the island host 114 healthy nests of turtles. This was their highest nesting season.

The island's fringing reef runs parallel to its leeward shore, making it easy to access dive sites. Visibility is up to 80 feet/100 metres due to the reef's shallowness and warmth.
